I called my boss to let him know I would most likely not be at work the next day as I was about to go to the ER for a medical emergency. He told me I needed to get my shift covered.

This was back in October. But it still bothers me. I had a severe relapse in self-harm and needed to get medical attention at the emergency department. There was a chance I'd be admitted either medically or for psychiatric reasons. So, I told my boss I might not be in the next day (I did get admitted, medically). He did first ask if I was okay. But immediately followed up with “Get your shift covered.” I reached out to a few coworkers, but couldn't find anyone to cover for me. And they hospital took my phone away (as they often do for psychiatric patients). The manager above me (not the boss who I originally contacted) covered my shift.
