My employer is based in Shanghai and our parent company is in Europe. We are going through a very tough time right now in Shanghai.
However, the lockdown doesn’t affect the business of our company, we can still perform work remotely. I mean it won’t affect partners income,benefits or something, but it actually makes it harder for us(low level employees) to finish the work bc our clients are also in lockdown. So the communication gets harder.
Our company has cost control policy that we can only put 8 hours in the time sheet and sign the agreement of overtime so that we can submit the time sheet. And every program only has like 5-10 days booking, and everyone knows we cannot finish them in those days. So we had to work overtime, almost 247 standby and marked idle in our timesheet.
And during this lockdown , our company do nothing but force us to deduct the annual leave as long as we are idle(but full of unfinished work) so it becomes employees are in annual leave but working. It’s not official ,just the result from partners’ meeting on a random day and the some managers told us. One of my colleagues went to ask the HR dept and got the answer ‘yes everything we heard are true’
I mean in this situation??? We are all very pissed. And someone exposed this on China’s biggest social media and just at that moment Hr dept announced that we are going to get some supplements from the company. So ironic!
I mean international companies in China, they don’t need to put efforts in equality bc we are minimalism. And my employer doesn’t not need to worry about sexuality equality bc it’s a low income industry so for some reason there are almost women in this industry. I think it’s also a reason that they choose china as a branch cuz ppl here can be forced work overtime and they don’t even need to pay us for that. And nobody cares about human rights. As long as you fight for your rights, there’s no other company will accept you anymore.
Ughh I just hate myself that I cannot make a desicion to resign.
