A little infuriating to say the least. For about a month and a half I’ve been told that there will be a raise on the next paycheck. I never got an exact amount to look for but nonetheless, something. Anywho I called my boss (who also hadn’t received his) and he said that’d he was going to talk to head honcho and see why no one had gotten yet. The next day my buddy politely told me that I wasn’t getting one after all. I was taken back of course. My boss, crew leader and myself were all pretty upset by it. Those two believe that I deserved it because of my improvements and drive to get better. I didn’t get the full answer as to why I didn’t get it but from what I can understand it was because I took a few days for myself for personal reasons. Idk. It changed my views on the company I work for and how much my time is valued. I’ve stuck around for a few reasons: I’ve learned valuable skills that I can carry for the rest of my life, my coworkers are great and have become good friends and the money is there but I’ve been struggling to save period. It just sucks being told, “you’re doing a great job! You’ve come leaps and bounds and you can expect a raise” only to not get it. I’m starting to look into other places that fit me more and what I’m passionate about but nothing pays me enough to be able to cover my monthly expenses.
