So recently I discovered my tech 1 coworker makes as much as I do, I'm a tech 2.
Here's some context,
Coworker started at company 5 years ago at 17/hr, then joined our department as a tech 1 at 22/hr last year. Now they make 27/hr a year after joining our department (still a tech 1). The experience they had when they initially joined the company was in a completely different field of work.
I've been working in the field for 5 years now and joined the company 6 months ago. I was hired as a tech 2, of course with more technical and skill required job duties as a tech 2. I make 27/hr.
When I joined the company 6 months ago, during my hiring, our department received across the board wage increases due to inflation. Thus I think this is where my coworker shot up from 22/hr to 27/hr. But it doesn't feel right that I make as much as them. I've been putting together a case for raise. It feels like I was skipped out on the ATB wage increase.
I'm definitely approaching this from a perspective of what I contribute to the company, I don't think my coworker should make less, just that I should make more. Has anyone else been in this situation? It doesn't sit right with me.
