I work for a small machine shop. I get paid well, but I know what everyone makes the owner and business director are the only 2 people paid better and both of them would make significantly more elsewhere like 4-5 times more. He’s a conservative but does little with running the business he’s the mastermind behind making super tight tolerance parts. So between myself and the business director we deal with clients. Our clients are big names, they tell us what they’re going to pay us. They tell us when they’re going to pay us.
Add to that some of our vendors under Trump were able to go to China. Example We have a part we sell for 100. We make about a 10 dollar profit on each with a small scrap rate. They (as in our rep who was getting laid off because her job was getting outsourced to India) told us they get it for 20 dollars a piece from China (technically not allowed to buy from China because end user defense but Trump administration didn’t give a fuck) we can’t even get the material with the right certifications for that price. Whenever my boss goes on about liberals now I just start naming part numbers we lost to China. Then I start naming parts we got back thanks to Bidens Buy American Act Executive Order.
