I don’t understand why companies insist on lying and wasting peoples time.

I just turned down a job days before going in to finish my new hire paperwork. I live in Hawaii, and I’m moving islands. The job was listed as being on the side of the island I’m going to live on, and throughout the entire interview process they acted like that was the case and talked about how they have active cases I could work on that side of the island. I received an email today that stated they expected me to drive across the island (Big Island, so about a 2 hour drive one way) every single day to work because they don’t, in fact, have any cases on the side I’ll be living on. They don’t serve that side. Gas is $7/gallon there, and they refuse to compensate for the commute. I told them that I had been given the impression that this was not the case, and…

I just don’t understand why they feel the need to lie about having work available in places where they don’t have anything. What an absolute waste of time.
