I work for a semi small company and they're always doing things outside of work. Happy hours, dinners, ball games, etc. I used to attend years ago but now I have no desire. I spend enough time at work each week and frankly I don't want to hang out with them anymore than I get paid for. It's not that I'm being rude or “too good” I value my time at home and my time with my kids. Once 4pm hits I'm out the door and on my way home. We've got some important meetings with higher ups in the coming weeks and when this happens they invite the managers out to dinner one night. I never go. I don't plan on it this time either. Am i an asshole for not ever wanting to participate outside of work?
