I Escaped!

I have no where else to post this really, but its topical. During the pandemic everyone had a chance to reevaluate and find out what they want. My husband and I decided that we wanted to be closer to my family and have less stress, not to mention leave the large city we live in. Its a good city, but we don't need the city anymore, since we're not young anymore. And the job I have is okay, but its an industry that usually demands a lot of people and burnout is high. Pretty much I put out fires every day. Total chaos. I had standards though. No longer was I some fresh college grad taking anything I could get.

I demanded from my recruiter that I wanted full WFM and nothing less, in an industry that 99% of the time requires being in person. I wanted to be on a team — not a department of one (1) like I am now. I wanted benefits. I wanted more PTO. Better healthcare. Flex schedules. Equipment. I knew I was asking a lot, but damnit, I both deserve and want it.

Well about 20 minutes ago the recruiter called to let me know that I landed the job. I can move and be near my grandparents. Because I'm working at home I can help out. I don't have two hours of commuting a day on a subway anymore. I'll be given the hardware and software I need to complete my job. I'm not going to the 'hey, she knows how to fix the printer!' bitch. I won't be called into an office to show my aging boomer boss how to make a PDF. Or be told to stop what I'm doing and work on a personal task for management. I won't get nasty as fuck emails from clients who think its perfectly okay to respond to my cool, calm collected tone with profanity and personal insults. I'm not working alone anymore, and I will have support of a national team. I'm just over the moon.

Y'all its our market right now. In less than two months I scored a WFH, well paying job when my recruiter warned me it could take a year or longer to find this placement. If you don't like where you're at … leave! They can't fire us all…. but…. we can all quit and find something else or better to do.
