I expect more from my generation

I was born in 1993. When I was in high school and college there was a general consensus between my peers that we were going to be the generation that really changes things. We were the first kids that grew up with the internet. We were supposed to be more compassionate and open minded than the generations before us. Now that we're all approaching our 30s I feel like we have totally given up on that idea for the most part. Maybe this is just apart of getting older, but it's still very sad to watch. I'm seeing the life literally being sucked out of a whole generation and it's turning us into the kind of people that we never wanted to be.
