I feel guilty for quitting.

At the beginning of February I put in my notice for my last day to be March 5th. I’ve been working my schedule ever since and today when I came in my boss had taken me off the schedule for next week. So ,of course, I ask him why I’m not on for my last week and his response was: “I didn’t think you would show up” I was obviously hurt by that because I never missed a single day during the 8 months I had been working there and always put my full effort in. I quit on the spot and gave him my keys, explained to him how I felt, and started to leave. Only then did he apologize and explain himself which made me feel terrible because I thought of him as a nice guy, but everyone in the company knows he can be grouchy at times.…

“I didn’t think you would show up”

I was obviously hurt by that because I never missed a single day during the 8 months I had been working there and always put my full effort in. I quit on the spot and gave him my keys, explained to him how I felt, and started to leave. Only then did he apologize and explain himself which made me feel terrible because I thought of him as a nice guy, but everyone in the company knows he can be grouchy at times. I left just a few hours ago and I feel even worse, I’ve never walked out of a job before and I feel like I need to go back and apologize or say something even though I know I’m justified in leaving, especially if he was going to cut my notice short. I’m not sure how to cope with walking out, is it this hard for everyone? Or am I just too attached to my coworkers?
