I went to school for music thinking of being a singer. Everyone in my classes came out of the womb playing an instrument (good for them, genuinely amazing people) and I fell behind so quickly I couldn't even think straight. I went to school for voice acting and a military deployment yanked me out three weeks into the beginning programs.
I joined the military straight out of high school to pay for school, which it didn't even remotely do. I witnessed something terrible and it was covered up. I was soon discharged early afterward.
I have worked McDonald's, Walmart, Fred Meyers, furniture warehouse, food production warehouse, pest control sales and technician, fire alarm salesmen, Cracker barrel, Dave & Busters, and a dental lab technician job. I tried to bust into content creation on twitch.tv. I have been suckered into not just one, but TWO MLM pyramid schemes. I am now in an ironworker apprenticeship and it's great pay in exchange for complete servitude to toxic work culture and zero free time.
I am turning 28 in a month and I've been in the work force for a decade. I've never been able to afford a vacation longer than four days in all of those ten years.
I am so tired. I am nothing more than a cog in a machine, easier to replace than to maintain.
I am tired of dedicated hours upon hours of the most valuable currency my life has (time) only to line the pockets of someone else that only knows me through a spreadsheet.
I don't want extended 60+ hour work weeks. Hell, I'm tired of how much time 40 hour weeks are.
There's gotta be SOMEONE out there that knows how to have just a peaceful life without being a modern slave. There's gotta be SOMETHING that I can support my little family with that still allows me the time and resources to fully enjoy my life with them.
