For the last 8-10 months I’ve been working at home (based out of Colorado) for a company through a temp agency in customer service. My offer letter (which I still have) shows my pay at $19.65/hr. When I got the call from the recruiter originally I was told that would be my starting wage and then 6 months later I’d get another raise. Great. I accepted and the work has been great, manageable and I was happy. I noticed on my paycheck from the end of April came with a bonus plus a pay raise. I saved the bonus and my pay was now $21.40. I was very happy to see that as I recalled being told of the raise. Then fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I was downloading and saving my pay stubs as I get direct deposit. I saw on my latest check that my pay went from $21.40 to $19 flat. I thought it had to be a mistake, so I reached out to my temp agencies HR manager. Long story short I was told then that they were supposed to pay me $18.25 to start, not $19.65. And $18.25 plus my raise of .75 would come out to $19 per hour. They noticed I was paid incorrectly after over 6 months so they corrected it. I told them this is not what I was told and even have it reflected in my offer letter. I was told the corporate version of ‘too bad, you either like it or you leave’. Then last week I contracted COVID so I was off work for a week. I’m just now starting to feel better and the weight of this situation has finally hit me. What would you guys do? I’m so angry, an entire $1.40 pay cut is atrocious. I wasn’t even told of this, they literally just docked my pay and hoped I wouldn’t notice?
