My boss called me into her office today to tell me that I’ve gotten a 38 cent raise. For reference, I make fifteen an hour. She immediately followed it with telling me not to tell any of our coworkers because it’s against policy to discuss wages and when I told her that was illegal she basically argued with me. No one was around and I don’t have the discussion in writing but I’m afraid I may get fired or at least retaliated against for this. I live in the US. Anyone have any experiences like this or any advice? I’m honestly hoping it just blows over.
