Antiwork

I got double the workload, but no extra pay.

I am a Shipping/Receiving Clerk for a car dealership. I knew when my building merged with another building of the same company that at some point down the road they’d want me to take over the other “building’s” shipping/receiving stuff too, so I told them in our yearly reviews earlier this year that WHEN that happens, I will require more money. More work = more money. Fast forward 10 months, and low and behold they gave me the more work I knew they would, which is double my workload. I do both jobs in part time hours (5 hours a day) while the previous guy who was moved to counter did it in full time hours. I met with my “manager” and told him I would like more money for more work. And he said he was unable to do that so close to giving me a raise already this…

I do both jobs in part time hours (5 hours a day) while the previous guy who was moved to counter did it in full time hours. I met with my “manager” and told him I would like more money for more work. And he said he was unable to do that so close to giving me a raise already this year, (back in march, this was in Oct) and to think of it in the way of “ don’t think of it as not getting paid more, think of it as getting paid for working the full 5 hours”. He literally said that. Like I wasn’t already getting paid for the full 5, but he meant it like I’m actually working the full 5 hours now, instead of before would I could get my work done rather quickly and have time to do other side projects. I no longer have time for side projects. He said we would circle back to the raise talk in March. I definitely feel dicked, but other than quitting,( i love the job, HATE the ‘manager”) there isn’t anything I can really do about it.
