I got fired.

I work in an executive level position for a city. An assistant city manager with no experience was promoted over me. My assistant director wanted my job, and he successfully built a coalition against me with his previous relationship with the assistant city manager. I was brought in with no warning and was asked to sign something saying I resigned. I refused and took unemployment, which will be 10.5% of what my wages were. Only a single person reached out to me afterwards. It is hard not to take the firing personal, because it was personal. I left a very good and high paying job to work there and ended up fired without any warning. I was discriminated against for being younger but that is not a protected class. I assume I should just let it go and move on, but I wish there was a way to call them…
