Im a corporate contractor in a private sector, however I am employed by a recruitment agency. I’m in a senior role and have been in this industry for almost 8 years.
I’ve been having issues with my manager at the company I am contracted to. To put it frankly, he has has been bullying me.
I first raised the issue three weeks ago with my boss, and he recommended I express how I felt with my manager, which I did, but his behaviour never changed. As a result, last week I finally decided to address it with my recruitment agency because it was starting to effect my mental health.
My recruiter spoke with my manager, who was furious that I raised this, and after a few days of silence from them on how best to proceed forward, I was called by my recruiter only to be told that my manager had fired me. He/my boss said I was being unprofessional for deciding to not be at work until a meeting transpired to address the issues (the meeting never happened – so of course I wasn’t going to return to work when it was unsafe). To me, the firing was clear retaliation to me standing up for myself.
I bent over backwards for this guy. I was overworked and treated like pure shit. When I finally spoke up about it to my recruiter, I even wrote that I knew I was taking a big risk, and I was right, it wasn’t even worth it.
I plan to take action but I’m not sure what will come from it, given technically my recruiter is my employer. I have evidence of his behaviour too, which I hope will be of some assistance.
Edit: spelling
Tldr; manager bullied me, I asked for a meeting to address my concerns of being mistreated, manager didn’t like that and fired me.
