I got fired for the first time, is it normal to be told I can’t take unemployment if I sign paperwork ?

I don’t know where else to ask this feel free to direct me elsewhere. I got fired today from my job at a law firm and my boss gave me a separation agreement offering to pay me through my next paycheck, which would be may 5th under the condition if I sign it I can’t file for unemployment. I worked in Illinois for a small law firm, 15 people max work there. My friend said I can’t be told not to take unemployment is this normal? If I file for unemployment will my boss be notified? He said he would write me a letter of recommendation [he told me it wasn’t my fault but he didn’t have time to delegate tasks to me. I worked directly for the law firm owner. Dunno if he was just lying about things but he was the kind of guy I thought would tell me if it was my fault]

I’m scared if I do file for unemployment he’ll find out and sue me I don’t have money for that. He told me I have until Friday to sign the separation agreement or not.
