So.. got this job a month ago. Seemed pretty good. Pay was excellent, but 1099. Startup but with real potential for a real need. Could easily see it blowing up in a few years.
Boss was a bit of an enigma. Sales guy so all the hype, but had a clear vision and a good product so I shrugged it off. I'd be in meetings and he would just rant at people but I noted the plan of the defendant and internalized it for the inevitable conflict later.
A week in, he fires an entire team for taking too long on a project. In week two, I get an anonymous message from someone on LinkedIn saying the company is a fraud. My paycheck was late both weeks.
Then, one day I get pulled into a meeting with the boss and his flunkies. I get blamed for purchasing the tool we were using (that the boss had approved and given me his card to pay for). And then asked to give specific data points on individual accounts (when we have hundreds or more). A bit flustered, I'm not able to – but send him a report that night with all the info he requested. 2 hours plus of him ranting, I apply the formula I watched others use. It seems to work and the meeting ends with clear direction for me. Fine.
The next day, I and my report have a miscommunication and we do not cover two meetings. We have 2 dozen of these a day with prospects, so not great but not the end of the the world. Boss is hopping mad and wanting to know what happened. I own my mistake and say I'll fix it. As we are talking I start getting notices my accesses are being cancelled. Boss kicks me from the conversation and thirty minutes later I get an email from one of the flunkies my contract is ended.
Fuck I hate working for assholes. Yeah I had signs early but I chased the money. Baka. Now looking for work 3 weeks before Christmas.
