I got a job working at a university as an admissions counselor. I went through a panel interview, another panel interview. A background check and reference check and I was told part of the job was that I’d have to travel sometimes. Well they come to give me the offer and they told me my salary was 38,000 a year and I was in shock because after taxes that’s about 1200 every 2 weeks. That’s not enough to support myself as the cost of living has gone up. So I was supposed to start and I keep putting it off because I’m at the point where if I do work there. It would be hard for me to get an interview anywhere else because it would be during my work hours. So now I’m at the point where I keep putting off my start date because I really just don’t care. The salary they gave me is making less than I made when I was working retail sales at a phone store. So it just made me feel very defeated because I went through that hiring process and got all my references for nothing.
