I work in a family shelter. It can not ever be left unattended. Sometimes (often) my direct and my coworker will take off/leave early and I will be the only one on site, so I am not able to take my lunch. My boss sent an email stating I have to fill out missed punch forms for my past missed lunches, or write something for my lead saying I choose to be exempt from lunch.
I am not going to fill out missed punch forms for time I worked, but I am wondering if there is a downside if write I agree to not having a lunch. (I can't remember the actual wording).
What makes it even more complicated is in the past, I would clock out for lunch but a resident would need something, but I had coworkers go off on me about that saying to never help residents if I am clocked out. So I stopped taking lunches when left alone at the shelter. So is there a potential downside to saying I agree to not have a required lunch? Will I still be able to choose to have a lunch if I have the opportunity to do so?
Also- I have coworkers gunning for me to get fired after I put the site on blast for exploiting residents/illegal activities. I have never been fired before, but what I have had is a prior job told me I was fired then later said I was a no call no show. At the time I was too young to stand up for myself so I let it slide.
What exactly is the process of being fired, because I would not like to get played again if something like that happens? Does it have to be in writing? I am in Washington state if that makes any difference.
Thanks.
