this was last year at my previous job. i have a septum piercing, just a simple gold ring. i was NOT told about the no septum rule. i went through the interview with a mask and got hired and started working, and everything was fine. eventually things opened up more and masks eventually came off. no one told me i wasn't supposed to have a septum ring. another girl who had been working there for quite awhile had one and no one ever said anything, not even the manager.
a little over a month, month and a half goes by. one day my manager calls me to her office and tells me i'm getting written up for a septum piercing. like WTF.
i was honestly in shock but was horribly poor at the time so i held my tongue and signed it, because i knew that if i had said something i would have either quit or gotten fired.
i wish i had said something and quit right then right there to save myself from the horrible treatment that continued.
literally what. i had a septum piercing and got written up for it when absolutely no one had ever said anything against it. for the next month and a half i worked there before i quit, i took it out before i got there and put it in when i left.
tbf that job sucked so bad, they always put me on the worst station and gave me no more than 10hr/wk when i was guaranteed 25 at hire in writing AND they made me work on my birthday. i no call no showed 5 days after my birthday and turned my phone off. my new/current job doesn't gaf about my septum and i get paid way more!
TL;DR: i got written up for a septum piercing when i was never told i couldn't have it. manager waited a month and a half to write me up despite seeing the piercing every day.
