I had quite an experience today…

So… Last week, my Mom overheard a conversation between a woman and a convenience store clerk that went something like: “We've been given a grant by the state of Oregon, and we need to spend the money quickly or else we lose the funds.” Weird, but I've heard of things happening like this in Oregon before with various things. Most specifically a road upgrade project. Anyways, my Mom asked her what was up and, basically, the grant is to help underserved Oregonians in need of a living wage. I definitely fall into this category. So my Mom got the number for me and I called her as soon as she gave it to me, and I went through the steps and procedures to “qualify” which included making something called an iMatch through Oregon WorkSource. Last week, my Mom overheard a conversation between a woman and a convenience store clerk that went something like: “We've been given a grant by the state of Oregon, and we need to spend the money quickly or else we lose the funds.” Weird, but I've heard of things happening like this in Oregon before with various things.

We had a pretty good conversation, and we decided to make it easy, we would meet up at our local McDonalds at 1 o clock because it has cheap coffee and free Wi-fi. That was supposed to happen today.

I went to our meeting spot, and arrived at around 12:35. No problem, I had my iPad and watched some Larry Sanders and hungout for a while. 1 o clock rolled around… no show.

Okay fine, I can keep watching stuff online and chill for a while. I usually don't like people keeping me waiting, but something could have happened or whatever… anyways. So I put on another episode of Larry Sanders…

1:30 rolls around. Nothing. Now I'm starting to get a little upset, but again, trying to keep my cool. I decided to give a call… no answer. I leave a voice mail, just to touch base, and wait some more.

Can you see where I'm going with this? I waited until 2, still no show. So I called WorkSource Oregon. They also did not answer. I then called another place that she does business with who, admittedly, was a bit more helpful. I asked if they knew where she was, and that I had what I felt was an important meeting with the person, and they tried to contact her, and she didn't answer them either! The woman who I did speak to was nice enough to put me through to her supervisor, and…

Nothing. No answer, no meeting, nothing.

How the fuck am I supposed to get my shit together if even the employment office can't keep their shit straight? What the hell?

Have any of you ever had a situation like this? This really pissed me the fuck off.

tl;dr: Was supposed to have a meeting about getting job specific training with somebody and got ghosted…
