I had to call out sick for my wedding.

This was precovid but several years ago I had to call out sick from my job because the coworkers that had more seniority than me (3 out of 10) planned to go on vacation that weekend. Every year. We got 3 personal days a year but they could not be next to a holiday/only to be used on one weekend a year (we are required to work every other) and they were pissed at ME because they felt entitled to that particular weekend and took it every year. Nope. They told me too bad.
My boss, the Union, and others told me I would have to call out and couldn’t use my personal days as I didn’t get approval from my coworkers (what the fuck) I needed it in writing from all 9 saying they would be fine if I took off the whole weekend. I didn’t even ever have a honeymoon or any kind of vacation afterwards I had to return to work Monday.
So I called out sick the morning of my wedding and the supervisor flipped out saying they were understaffed. It was so frustrating. Why would you need a approval from coworkers to take two days off to get married? Awful!
