My company allows 10 sick days per year. I used our system to mark myself sick on 4/1 and I got a call from the boss saying I have 24 hours to get a sick note.
So I call my doctor's office and talk to the receptionist who give's a note to my doctor's nurse to call me. 4 hours later I get a call back asking what my symptoms are, why I need a note, etc. They say they will talk to my doctor and it's up to her to give me a note. An hour goes by. Doctor calls – asks all the same questions as the nurse, asks if I had a covid tests, tells me to take one of my free USPS tests and to call back. It's negative. I'm pretty sure I have a sinus infection – runny nose, eyes and teeth hurt, etc.
I call the office back, they send a message to the nurse that the covid test was negative. An hour later I get a call that my doctor is going to write the note, she get's my email and my boss's fax, and we write the actual note together. It took 6 hours, 5 calls, and finally my boss get her damn note.
Well, yesterday I check the mail. After insurance discounts and coverage I owe $60 for that note. Apparently they charge to have you talk to your nurse and doctor 4 times in one day because you need some extra sleep and don't want to get your students sick. All that for 1 Friday off that I spent in the shower, the bath and on the phone so I could breathe.
