I have a client that’s refusing to give me a secure contract before I start working.

Fuck capitalism. I really need this gig. I'm literally just asking for a contact as soon as possible so I am secure, and I'm being told I'm not the right fit? Why? Because I have boundaries and I'm demanding security? It's not unreasonable to ask for a contract before I start working; it is literally the terms of site, but apparently I'm stressing this client out by asking her to give me a contract as soon as possible. Her last message is an implied threat to withdraw the opportunity. Probably the best move right now to keep the project would be to appologise and back down, but I have fucking pride and I'll starve before I let someone disrespect me like this. Fuck that. How would you guys respond in a situation like this?
