I have a more positive(but also sad) story for you all

After seeing a lot of negative stories about shitty workplaces/managers/companies, etc, I figured I’d share the story of when my grandma passed away from cancer, and how her company handled it. In the beginning of April 2020 right at the start of Covid, we found out that my grandmas cancer had returned, and it was diagnosed as stage 4 inoperable, and she was only given 1-3 weeks to live. She ended up passing away on May 5th 2020 after a very short battle. Upon finding out the news from my uncle, her supervisor gave his condolences and immediately notified the department manager who notified his superiors, and eventually word got to the EVP(acting CEO at the time due to the actual CEO being out on personal leave) The EVP of the company went out of his way to have her 25 year anniversary plaque made, and hand delivered it to…

Upon finding out the news from my uncle, her supervisor gave his condolences and immediately notified the department manager who notified his superiors, and eventually word got to the EVP(acting CEO at the time due to the actual CEO being out on personal leave) The EVP of the company went out of his way to have her 25 year anniversary plaque made, and hand delivered it to our family (her 25 year anniversary with the company was in march 2020, but they don’t hand out the years of service plaques until the company Christmas party in December) When he stopped by to give the anniversary plaque to us, he also gave our family two hand written letters from himself, and the CEO saying how much of an asset she was to the company over the 25 years she was there, and how missed she will be. They(EVP, and CEO) also donated $10,000 to help us with the funeral/end of life expenses.

There are ALOT of really shitty managers and companies out there, but, I can confirm that there are a few that truly care about their employees
