I just found out my boss hasn’t been withholding taxes and expects me to file as an independent contractor. What do I do?

I’ve been working for them for nearly a year now in various different capacities pretty much learning new positions and filling in wherever they need. They only have one other full time employee who is certainly capable of a lot but definitely doesn’t pull the same weight. From my little bit of reading so far, if I were to file as an independent contractor I believe I would have had to pay taxes multiple times this last year already – but haven’t.

I’ve yet to have a real conversation with him about it and I’m not really sure what to say, how to address things, and what sort of information I need to gather. Any insight anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated
