I just got let go from my new job, a month into my probation period.

Just as a context, I work in the architecture field and was living and working in Minneapolis. Enjoyed my job but I didn’t feel like there was enough room for growth considering it was a small firm. So when an opportunity came up to work for a large firm in Toronto, I took it. During my interview, I was honest and reiterated that I am not well-versed in the programs that they use, and that I have no experience working on public projects as previous firm specializes in residential design. Moved to Toronto, found a quite expensive apartment close enough to work (it’s relative to the pay they offered), started the new job. Got a day of training and basically threw me into the fire without any knowledge of how the programs work or their workflow. Fast forward a month later, I was sat down by my senior and a partner in a meeting room at the end of the day to tell me that they’re letting me go as they think I don’t have the technical skills they’re looking for. They told me that they think I’ll find a better firm to work form that fits my skill set. Oh, and they offered me $1000 compensation for moving to Toronto

Now I’m jobless in a city where I don’t know anyone and pretty much stuck in my lease. It sucks. Rant over.
