I just got promoted to a manager in my company, and my team is struggling.

I don’t know if this is the right sub for this. Without giving too many details and going into an entirely too long story, my team members – a group of talented individuals and myself, a very productive happy self sufficient group, got unexpectedly thrown into an absolutely awful management situation due to a manager quitting unexpectedly where we don’t get enough support or attention to hit our goals successfully.

Now, I am taking over the team as the new manager and it’s my job to clean up the mess that the other managers created.

My teammates are feeling abandoned, unmotivated, unsupported, and don’t feel they have a voice.

If you were in this situation, or if you ARE in this situation, and you had a new manager that wanted to make it right. What would you say to them? What do you feel you would need from them?

Also, do you have any advice for me when it comes to taking over a team of people who have felt this way and wanting to genuinely make things right?

My goal is to prevent this group of people from feeling the way a lot of you end up feeling from your managers on this sub. I have the chance to make a difference with these people.
