Antiwork

I made a post a while ago about quitting my toxic job. This week I joined an amazing company, and my director said this: “if working here causes you stress, that means we’re doing something wrong, and it’s our job to fix it”

At my old job, I told my CEO that I was having a mental breakdown and he quite literally said “that’s not an excuse to not do your job”. At my new company, every single person I’ve interacted with so far has said the same thing: the organisation is so genuinely supportive of you and your needs. Flexible working? Got it. Want to work from your friends house or a cafe? Awesome! Feeling under pressure? They take work off of your hands, and give you offline days so you can catch up. The pay is better than my old toxic job in finance, as are the benefits, the working day is shorter, and it’s a charity- so it’s all for a great cause. It’s only been a week, but I think this is what work is supposed to feel like.
