About a month ago, I started interning for a software company. I quite like my colleagues and I have a solid work/life balance, but one of the stipulations was that I would be unpaid for the first month, and would be on a paid basis after that. Seeing as I needed the work experience and I’m fortunate enough to still live at home with my parents, I was ok with that deal. It’s been a month and a week now, I’ve done good work for them, but my boss is not responding to my messages. I don’t think it’s fair that we haven’t had this conversation yet when it was detailed in the contract that I would begin to get paid after the first month. How do I remind him respectfully but sternly? I’d like to convert this internship to a full time offer but it’s getting increasingly harder to continue working without the question of pay answered, but at the same time (due to personal reasons, feel free to ask in the comments, it’s nothing bad per se) I don’t want to just leave this position because I actually enjoy what I’m doing and the things I’m learning will translate well to future positions. Any advice?
