I pissed r/RealEstate off and something shook me…

So I posted on RealEstate because my wife and I are looking for a new home after living in our current one for nearly a decade. Yes, we got lucky and got in before the market went insane. We were the last of people we knew who were working and managed to get into a fixer-upper. I promise you we've spent thousands on thousands with broken pipes, bad roofs, etc. We need to get out. We started looking, and we were set up to visit a house to see if we wanted to put in an offer within 24 hours of it being listed. It's already under contact we find out as we're getting ready for the day. We need to get out. We started looking, and we were set up to visit a house to see if we wanted to put in an offer within 24 hours of it being listed.

It's already under contact we find out as we're getting ready for the day.

The thread is basically everyone yelling at me about how I have to now design my entire life around putting all of my money and the next 30 years' worth of my money down on a house before it's listed (before we can look at it, check it, etc) because that's what other buyers do.

Other buyers in our area are mostly foreign investors that don't come to the home, don't rent the home, just invest.

But I'm being called irresponsible for not doing this, but I am making time, taking time off work to do this, but it's not good enough, not fast enough.

This is when it hit me. I'm finally barely in a financial place to improve my life. But because I work, because I have to make time to do these things, that I'm accountable and can't just leave whenever it's blocked from me.

Like fuck, so much of this thread is about money, and rightfully so. But damn it's not just that, it's time, it's an opportunity to do better for ourselves being robbed from us no matter how quickly or diligently we act. If we work that 'lifestyle' means we can't move ahead no matter if we push to earn a little more here or there, and it wasn't like this even a handful of years ago.

My locked thread here (yes I yelled at a lot of people, far as I can see they deserve it)
