I put in my two weeks notice at my job toxic job. I’ve never felt relief like this and I’m so excited.

I 25F put in my two weeks notice on Friday. I've been at this job for a year and a half and have been miserable – the only thing that kept me was the pay. The company culture is paranoid, tense, political and downright scary. A few months back I reached my breaking point – I realized I couldn't work in an environment like this, and no amount of money made it worth it. I really only live for the weekends since I'm usually too mentally exhausted to do anything after work, and just lay on my couch watching TV until I fall asleep. Due to the burn out, I decided to look for jobs that would put very low stress on me. I'm leaving the corporate world and going to a new job that many would consider going “backwards” in my career growth and I'm taking a pay cut, but I don't care. I'll still be able to pay my bills and live the life I do now on an adjusted budget.

I look at it as a step forward – currently commuting + work takes about 55-60 hours of my week, and that's still never enough time to get all my work done. With my new job it will be no more than 35 hours a week, and I will never have work to take home with me. I'm getting an extra 20+ hours back in my week that I can use for more sleep, learning to cook more recipes, exercising more, etc. I can't even express how excited I am. I'm not expecting my new job to be perfect, but I believe it will allow me live much more of my life.
