idk how to write a good story so i’m sorry if i put in useless information.
anyways a week before putting my two week notice in, i found out that i have 80 hrs of pto in my profile. i don’t wanna use pto because i’ve been wanting to quit for a while now.
by the end of that week they reveal that they have to cut off people in my job due to budget cuts. so now i thought i’ve had enough with this place, i’d have to do the work of more people for the same $15 an hour. i put in my two weeks and i’m already through one week. i told my manager in advance that i was taking time off on friday. i said i would not like to use my pto. she approved of it over the phone and told me to have a good day. few hours later she texts me saying i HAVE to use a pto day and that i can’t just have the day off. i told her ok i’ll reschedule my appointment for another day.
i couldn’t get another reschedule in so i decided anyways that i’ll skip work so i can do what i have to do. she finds out, calls me why i’m not there and tells me that she’s putting in my pto for me cause “i can’t have the day off”.
there’s been many times where i was sick and i had no pto days to use so idk what’s the issue this time.
was i in the wrong?
i feel guilty for skipping work but i didn’t wanna use a pto because i’m pretty sure it’s only optional. i didn’t wanna take the time to use a pto either because it’s just a waste of time paying back the company the money they gave me when i told them i didn’t wanna use my pto. can anyone help? idk if it matters but i’m 19m working at a furniture store
