So, story time— I worked at a prestigious academic institution turned hospital making $50,000 a year. In this role, I functioned as essentially an executive assistant to 5 doctors. I have a MBA & BBA but accepted the role as I’d just had a little one.
Last week the operations manager whom we all report to calls me and literally tears into me. In this conversation, she is degrading &/ demeaning, hits below the belt, and tells me she has a list of every mistake I’ve made in the last six months (I started in June) this was the very first conversation of its kind.
Mind you, the majority of the “special projects” I’d been working on are actually her work she’d dump on myself. This ‘conversation’ went on for 40 minutes. In the last year that this operations manager has been there, 14 people of a 10 person administrative team have left, and she is now being investigated.
I took the next two days off as sick days. The manager called, I refused to speak to her. I returned and resigned effective immediately via email— I essentially ghosted her. The manager is still asking people I’m friends with if I’ve found another job, etc.
I have an interview tomorrow for an exciting role and wanted to share. I’ll take any well wishes, prayers to whatever you believe in, etc.
