Antiwork

I resigned from my job (finally) and left them with an 8 page resignation letter to read then walked out. It was glorious. Here’s some of the highlights (rephrased a bit) for your reading pleasure:

“For a group that claims it likes to hire to retire, I was offered no tangible example of this despite my willingness, but was subject to countless discussions about increasing my workload and expanding workplace responsibilities.” “If minorly insinuating at an outside office event that I had a one-night stand with my now husband is not workplace appropriate, neither is subjecting me to hours of gnarly details involving pregnancy and the illnesses of spawn.” “This is merely another soulless group that does not support diversity, inclusion, or human equality unless it is comfortable and profitable to them.” “A “thank you” in an email does not dismiss negligence, discriminatory behavior, or inappropriate workplace conduct. Similarly, a piece of paper saying “Employee of the Month” paired with a goody bag will never be equivalent to true gratitude, like providing better wages, benefits, and improved working conditions for employees.” “To advertise “competitive wages”…

“To advertise “competitive wages” when our front-line employees are paid minimum wage is insulting to the working class. Who are you competing with, unemployment?”

“It is not a mystery why people quit and now I am joining them for the betterment of my talents, which you will struggle to replace.”

(Note: Do NOT do this if you aren’t willing to burn the professional bridges. I knew exactly what this would do and had no desire to keep in touch with them professionally or personally. It is also a big enough industry that I don’t need to be concerned, but that’s not the case for everyone)
