Context : About 3 weeks ago someone tried to steal alcohol from my work. ( I know I shouldn’t have intervened but I did ) It ended with the guy going to jail, but I had a broken finger.
Because of this incident, a woman that works 1st shift started a rumor that “ I’m aggressive so I beat my girlfriend. “
She told this directly to the Co-Manager who told me about it. The co manager did not stop these rumors. GM got roped in and told me “ his hands are tied “ and he can’t do anything.
I didn’t put up with it. After hearing again that she is starting rumors about me I lost my lid, started yelling about how I’m being harassed at work and NO ONE will do anything about it.
My work decided to fire me over my broken finger from the incident , stating I “ can’t perform my job duties “ even though they had no problem with it for the prior 2 weeks. Until I raised hell about being harassed.
They tried to force me to take unpaid leave until I heal and I can not go without pay. I have a baby being born in about a month.
So I’m forced to leave and find another job immediately.
