I think exposure to mass media has given average people the kind of consciousness reserved for the ultra rich in years gone by

As a consequence of this, we have many people who are aware of the awfulness of their own predicament (lifelong wage slavery), yet are unable to get out of it. I'm struggling to express this, but I think it's the reason this sub exists.
