I think the narrative that one should strive for meaningful work isn’t that truthful. One shouldn’t necessarily base their self-worth or identity on their career.

Many jobs aren’t that meaningful, and don’t lead to much more. It’s a paycheck. Sometimes people are fortunate to have impressive careers, but to base one’s ego on that is hazardous.
