Pretty self explanatory title.
Yesterday I gave my month's notice to my boss. He was pretty surprised. I explained to him that I am not happy in my job for several reasons and that, although I'm happy for the chances they gave me, I'm sad to say I became disappointed and overall unhappy with my job. Between you and me, I'm becoming bitter, even.
He asked a lot of questions and I told him I didn't really feel like they take my wants, aspirations and concerns seriously. And he actually made a discussion/argument of the examples I gave! I told him I thought this behavior was exactly characteristic; he wasn't taking me seriously! I mean, he could've listened, ask in-depth questions, maybe even apologize, idk. At the end he somehow admitted that he knew my work happiness was a concern long before I started talking to him about it. But they didn't tell me they knew? Or they accommodated my wants, made an action plan, or communicate anything? He was surprised now, but he wasn't surprised a couple of months ago? The whole thing was confusing af.
So, in the end, he wants me to stay quiet to my supervisor and team, even though I said I wished to tell them during our meeting coming Monday. He wants to meet with me (he offered dinner, but I declined) Monday to talk about it. In the meantime I have to keep it a secret fo the whole office as well 🤷️
My guess is he wants to pursuade me to stay. Reality is, I'm going to sign my new contract today. As I told him, I'm telling you and myself: my happiness is more important than my loyalty to him, the job or his office.
