I was bag searched in front of customers.

I work for a retail business in the UK where we sell products over the counter. Two days ago it was just me and my manager working. It was a steady day with a pretty constant flow of customers. I was finishing at 5 and the store closes at 5:30, so at around 4:45 my manager takes one of the two tills off. When counting it she realised it was £30 down. She took the till upstairs and put it away. Once she came back down to told me she was going to do a bag search on me. I finished at 5 and grabbed my two bags I had with me, one was a big duffel bag I take to the gym in the morning. I had to take all the things out and show her, unfold clothes and open out any pockets as well as opening bottles and…

All this happened on the shop floor while customers were still shopping. Is this allowed? It was a horrible experience and just wanted some advice.

Also, she messaged me at 6 to tell me she found the money in the safe and she had forgot to put it in the till in the morning.
