I was laid off twice from the same company

I've been lurking r/antiwork for a while, thought people might get a kick out of my story. I was working for this company since Covid hit, and they were having employees quit in droves because they kept getting sick (Red Flag #1). I worked for them for 2 months before I was called into my boss' office, three days before Christmas, and told I wouldn't need to come in for the next shift. Department was closing down. That's it, no other notice. The funny part here is that at the time, I was in the middle of working a 264 hour shift (You stayed at the company while on shift). And my dumb ass continued working until the end. I missed Christmas with my family because of that. On January 2nd, they called me and asked if I wanted to work in a different department.

I was depressed and just wanted a job, so I said yes (Red Flag #2). I worked for them for another year and a bit. I liked my new schedule (a regular 40-45 hour per week) and I had planned a roadtrip up to Canada for fun now that I wasn't so depressed.

Thirty minutes before I was planning on leaving (I was going to leave right after work ended), the boss called everybody into her office. Saying they were “restructuring” and we didn't need to come in to work tomorrow. They said the company would be closed for 45 days and then reopen but our job would still be there when they did. I was obviously pissed off, but I still wanted to go on my trip so I just grabbed my shit and left.

Thirty days later, my boss called me to let me know, actually, they were moving to ANOTHER STATE and if I wanted to come along I could. Mind you, this job was only a few dollars more than minimum wage in my area. My dumb brain finally took the flags I had been collecting and I said no.

I'll be starting a new job in two days, with better pay, WAY better benefits, and something that will fit me better. Can't believe I just let them do that shit lol
