My boss scolded me after receiving a time off request from me. I did everything by procedure and did request two weeks in advance and everything like that. She scolded me because I work part time and she said I have to make appointments outside of working hours. I work from 1:30pm-6pm, mon-fri. My primary care doctor doesn't do weekends or appointments before 10am and is in another city so it's kinda impossible to get an appointment outside of my work hours. I am currently looking into legality and my rights as someone with a disability. I am autistic and don't attend appointments like doctors alone because they tend to be overstimulating and I have an extremely hard time advocating for myself, especially with medical professionals so any appointment I make has to line up with my partners schedule because they are the only person who would go with me. We are getting a note from my psychiatrist saying I'm diagnosed and need accommodations. I am part time because of my disability, I cannot handle full time work mentally and will break down pretty fast. I didn't want to disclose any of this to my employer because I know it can stop you from being hired most places and I don't need any accommodations besides scheduling. It's ridiculous to say someone can't request time off because they are part time. You have no idea what goes on in others lives and as my employer it isn't your business.
