Last Tuesday I was abruptly suspended without pay pending a review. Management’s reasoning behind this was a chronic tardiness and absents. I suffer from a neurological disorder known as cluster headaches, where the pain is so terrible that I cannot do anything that doesn’t Involve throwing myself around like a rag doll. I stated to my employer that these headaches make it impossible to do the simplest of things, let alone drive, thus many days I would run late as a result. Management was seemingly okay with this.
All fine and well, or so I thought until I was suspended and subsequently terminated. My termination has resulted in the inability to collect UI, even though I’ve spent the previous four years at this company.
What should I do in this situation? I could contact MD department of labor and explain the termination. I’ve no other ideas. Any advice is greatly appreciated. All the best!
