So essentially, I worked for Amazon as a driver in Florida. It’s already a hard enough job. It’s very physical, especially here because it’s very hot during the day. And lately my company has just been seeming to get worse and worse and worse. You can read all my reasons in the text messages I’m not going to retype them here. However, my last day was honestly the last straw for me. I was going to put in my two weeks notice. I had another job lined up. I was waiting for them to ask me what I wanted to start to put my notice in, then my Dispatch completely disregarded my personal safety. I included that text message in here too, but I’m not comfortable with being told “pick up the pace” in response to I’m not trying to get sick from the heat.
When I quit, I was considering messaging the group chat and sending a whole messaging but I decided to tell my Dispatch worker directly that tonight was my last night. She told me to go message David the owner, so I went to but couldn’t find his contact and asked another driver for help. While the other driver was trying to find his contact information, I heard my dispatcher talking to another coworker, saying I was the third person to quit like that this week. And considering how frustrated I already was, I just spoke up and said I wonder why. She responded with getting in my face and kicking me out of the parking lot saying I didn’t need to text the owner anymore and I can figure it out from my car because she doesn’t need my negativity around anymore. Pretty funny and ironic considering she’s a big part of the reason why I left. I then went to my car and had three other drivers come out and say the goodbyes.
During that point, my dispatcher on added me from every group chat for the company, so I had no way to contact anybody including the owner. So I thought that was the end of it but I was wrong because my owner messaged me later that night, asking why I left. And honestly you can’t handle me a silver platter like that right after I leave your company because of practices that you’re enforcing like it’s too good of an opportunity for me to pass up. So I didn’t and he never responded but I get to see them next Friday to pick up my paycheck so that’s gonna be fun.
