One of the companies represented at the job fair manages a quarry. The literature at the company's table mentioned jobs in a handful of different areas… but notably, no payrates listed. Considering that one of the areas mentioned was sales, I figured I might be able to find out a little bit about compensation if I explained that I'm good at sales, but curious as to whether the income for the position is largely commission-based, because I need a stable income.
The guys at the table explained that starting pay for most positions is around $18/hr (not spectacular, but it could be worse)… oh and by the way, just about everyone at the company works 50-55 hours a week. Every week.
