Companies/agencies can and will fire an employee without thinking twice about it for a multitude of reasons. Even if they’ve worked there for ages. Even if they have impeccable work ethic. I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes. I haven’t done much job hopping outside of this past year due to some life changes. I work in social services so it’s distressing in a sense because I don’t like leaving my clients who have high needs. This is the one and only thing I find difficult about it. Even social service agencies have corruption. The vast majority of us are overworked and underpaid. Turnover and burnout is very high in this field. I’ve been at my current agency for a little over 6 months. I recently found out that my rent is going up significantly. Apartment availability is low in my area and most of what’s available is expensive. My current job won’t cut it financially and it’s already burning me out because of how high my caseload is. I’m now in the final stages of interviewing for a higher paying and less demanding job position. In the meantime I’ve been applying to various other higher paying jobs and I have two other interviews coming up. I’m blasting out resumes and cover letters without hesitation. We live in a capitalist hellscape. I’m not sorry about job hopping for the sake of my well-being and financial stability.
