First of all first post ever on this site, let alone subreddit. I guess this is a vent post.
I'm not a good writer or story teller either. Shit grammar and punctuation.
I work at a butcher's shop/restaurant. I swear the place is barely standing. All of the repairs are done by the co owner and not a professional. Most of the machines we use have the safety mechanisms by-passed just so they can work. Some machines we have to tear apart just to stick some pens in to get them to work. The drains in the meat room are clogged usually. And instead of hiring someone that might fix the problem for more than a week he uses a snake to unclog the drains. The septic system needs pumped (i think) because it constantly overflows. We will have to start climbing a ladder into the attic to reset the heating system because thats fucked too.
The boss said that he could fire everyone and keep the place running on his own. He likens back to the good old days where people had to show up sick or get fired. He's also said if you get covid to not get a test and come in anyway.
And all the while the USDA guys don't say a thing. So maybe I'm wrong in thinking the whole place is an OSHA violation. But the pay is good for someone who doesn't know how to drive and can't travel to a better place of employment. I'm overworked and paid the best I've ever been in my life. $15/hr
