I work in inhumane conditions (so I feel)

For starters, I make $14 an hour, I’m in Texas. If that gives any perspective. I work in a kitchen and I’m a grill cook (F20) I honestly hate it. (Of course that’s why I’m on this subreddit) I feel like the conditions I work in are a bit inhumane (maybe I’m being dramatic). I’ll try to make this into points. 1. It’s extremely hot in our kitchen. No AC and one tiny little fan and sometimes our rushes are 4-5 hours in which we cannot step off the grill or take a break unless we just want to frustrate ourselves more playing catch up. It’s so hot sometimes I just want to scream. Within 5 minutes my whole back is dripping already. 2. We don’t really get breaks, lately I’ve been extremely annoyed at my job so when it’s slow I absolutely do take really long breaks and sit…

2. We don’t really get breaks, lately I’ve been extremely annoyed at my job so when it’s slow I absolutely do take really long breaks and sit their and do nothing cause at this point I feel like I don’t get paid enough. My boss only schedules us 7 hour shifts so avoid giving us real breaks, but those 7 hours are mainly filled we extreme business and heat exhaustion.
3. My boss refuses to hire more employees. We used to have 9 kitchen employees. We’ve had only 4 now for months and my boss has not attempted to hire anymore people in the kitchen and only has gone on to hire atleast 11 new servers and bartenders since they aren’t paid by the hour. It’s extremely frustrating because when one of us calls in in the kitchen, there is nobody else to take our shift unless someone else has to take a double and go through extreme heat for hours on end all by themselves.. and that’s my next point

  1. Because my boss won’t hire more people, I’m often left running an entire kitchen by myself at only 20 years old with dozens of tickets and no breaks on the brink of passing out from heat exhaustion.

  2. Last point even though there’s a million more, my co workers are manipulative succubants and actually try to guilt trip me into staying when I express I want to leave because I’m the hardest worker and nobody wants me to go.

It’s so hard often I have these really bad freak outs at work where I punch and kick everything in sight and yell into the oblivion all night abt how I’m tired of making food for people. Sigh.
