I’d like to have a conversation with you all, on the subject of poverty being an acceptable condition for assisted suicide under current Canadian law.

I learned of this today and find it completely ridiculous. News flash, food and land are both provided by Earth free of charge in plentiful excess. There is enough land and food for everybody, enough people who love gardening, trucking, building, organizing, that the entire world could have their needs fulfilled while not requiring money for their services and being entitled to a share of all services/products. If you are interested in a field, work in it and have your needs/wants covered in exchange, instead of pay. You would simply have a status card that enables you to a fair share of whatever it is you please, because all things on Earth are in excess and would be even more so if those who wished to contribute were not held back by the prospect of student loans. The ONLY reason it will never be adopted is because so many are…

The ONLY reason it will never be adopted is because so many are too selfish, greedy, and gluttonous. It is not enough for you to be equal to your neighbor, you MUST feel better. So because some people would cry about wanting 12 cars to themselves, we all must suffer and some must go without? Sad. I'd rather see millions of greedy people upset about not having extra cars and houses, than see millions of people with nothing choose to end their lives.

This is ridiculous and archaic to suggest death as a solution to an ARTIFICIAL scarcity of land, food, and motivation for progress. The world would not stop moving, it would accelerate as people settled into fields they respected and enjoyed, and every field became filled with passionate geniuses who work out of enjoyment and interest alone. Do you know how many passionate and genuinely brilliant minds are locked behind minimum wage jobs because for whatever reason, they could not afford the education they needed to change the world? Anybody who supports the current system is an absolute nut case. There is more at stake here than your possessions, there are more important things to take care of than your ego. Wake up.

Does anybody realize some people love driving trucks and would deliver food for free as long as they don't require money to live? Do you know how many people love agriculture and would grow food if provided the tools and land (me), just for fun? Some people love building houses and would do so everyday, if they could have their needs/wants (within reason) taken care of. No matter the product or service, no matter the spot in the chain it took to deliver said product or service, there are enough people out there willing to do that job if their needs were met. You can ensure diversity of disciplines by implementing worker caps in industries based on current needs. If your desired field is full, select another. Free education for all, provided by those who find joy and purpose/satisfaction in being curators of knowledge. Many will educate and lead for free, if their needs are met. There is ZERO reason why we should be bribing people into wasting their potential, or doing things they don't ACTUALLY want to do, and allowing them to do so insufficiently in the process. Let alone suggesting and enabling that those who the system failed, end their own lives. As if there is no space or food for them, and as if there is a shortage of people who are willing to help. Bullshit.

The only shortage is the shortage of compassion for and comprehension of the sanctity of life. There is a shortage of the understanding and application of the logistics of socioeconomics. People who love money, are scientists and doctors. People who love science and medicine, are working at Walmart. That realization makes the idea of assisted suicide as a solution, sting all the more. The system is designed to fail, it can not do anything else because workers, efforts, and minds are not being allocated properly or efficiently.

This is not the Canada my Great Grandparents left Scotland for. We can do so much better. In the course of one year we could turn this country right-side up, if we collectively willed it. Starting with free education and allowing the population to reorganize themselves into fields they actively try to improve, rather than scrape by in with little interest. We do not have a laziness epidemic, we have an epidemic of awakened souls that have had enough of being lied to and told they must waste their potential and mortality in order to provide themselves with what nature already is capable of providing them with for free and passively. We do not buy these lies any longer. If that all sounds like an impossible dream paradise to you, I am truly sorry. It's not, it's entirely possible.
